Spend a full day immersed in the art of soap making. In this hands-on class, you’ll explore a variety of ways to incorporate herbs into your soap, along with techniques for creating a creamy, moisturizing bar of farm-fresh goat milk soap. We’ll discuss the qualities of different herbs and their healing and nourishing properties, and cover three foundational soap-making methods: hot process, cold process, and hand milling.

In addition to making soap, you’ll learn how to felt soap and incorporate loofah sponges for gentle exfoliation and added skin benefits. This comprehensive class offers a strong foundation for working with high-quality ingredients sourced from the field, forest, and farm. Participants will leave with multiple bars of soap to cure at home, a recipe guide, and skills they can return to for years to come.

Skill Level 

No prior knowledge or skills required to participate. Many levels will learn in this class, as we will cover a wide variety of topics on the science and art of soap making.

Age Requirement 

Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class. Students ages 16 and 17 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
