Weld a Garden Sculpture

This class offers a hands-on introduction to TIG welding as you create a stone and metal outdoor sculpture. TIG welding uses an inert gas and bonds metal to metal without a wire feed or rods or sticks, and is typically used for thinner materials such as pipe welding or where appearance is important. You’ll practice basic welds while learning how to encase a stone and create a small sculptural piece to take home. Participants are encouraged to bring a stone roughly the size of their fist to incorporate into their work.

Local artist Greg Kraft will cover safety as well as introductory concepts for sculpture design. Channel your creativity and create a garden sculpture to liven up your landscape this spring!

Instructor will provide the following:

TIG welder, welding helmets, power tools, hand tools, ear & eye protection, gloves

Students are asked to bring:

A stone the size of your fist and your creativity!

Please wear jeans, a long-sleeved cotton shirt, and close-toed leather shoes or boots.
