Intro to Photography for Kids (Ages 9 to 14) – Saturday, April 26, 2025

A picture is worth a thousand words! In the tradition of folk school hands on learning this class will empower students with a beginner’s knowledge to capture images as a true photographer. Students will be introduced to technical and aesthetic aspects of photography, providing them with the foundation to see and capture beauty around them that will last a lifetime. Technical knowledge and shooting experience learned this class are basic principles good for any direction photography will take in the future.

This class is designed for 9-14 year olds with the mission of:

EMPOWERING STUDENTS WITH KNOWLEDGE AND A CAMERA

During class each student will choose a digital camera of their choice to own which will keep them shooting photos even after the class ends.  Cameras are name brand models updated for this class that have been gifted through the kindness of others.

Special Note:  Adults are invited to share in the fun of learning a new skill with a younger person, and will receive tips on supporting their student to further develop this newly acquired skill. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for the additional person, just complete the registration for 1 adult and note the name and age of student photographer in the comment section of the registration.

Students are asked to bring the following materials:

• Snacks, water, or lunch, as there are no food facilities at the school

Tuition: $50 (includes a camera for your child)

Note: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
