West African Drumming Ensemble – Spring FULL SERIES – March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15

Alternatively, you have the option of registering for single sessions under the specific dates on the website for $15/class.

Expand your knowledge of hand-drumming techniques across djembe and kpanlogo drums, bells, shakers, and stick drums. In this class, you’ll explore how layered rhythms come together to create rich musical conversations within traditional West African genres.

When you sign up for the West African Hand Drumming Series, you’ll be registered for 10 drumming sessions with no pressure to attend every class. We’ll meet on Fridays from 4:30 – 6:00PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix for the following dates: March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15.

Your instructor will provide the following:

• Drums for up to 6 students at a time

• Additional percussion instruments

Students are asked to bring:

• Joy, openness to learning something new, and a djembe or kpanlogo drum if they have one.

Skill Level 

All levels are welcome!

Age Requirement

16+ (Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission via email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org).

NOTE: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
