Relief Printmaking: Spring Bookmarks

Create your own bookmarks in this beginner-friendly printmaking class! Students will draw, carve, and hand-print multiples of a 2” × 6” black-and-white design, using either their own ideas or sample images provided by the instructor.

You’ll learn how to safely use carving tools, properly ink and print your design using hand-printing techniques, and troubleshoot common at-home printmaking challenges. Feel free to bring ribbons, tassels, or other embellishments to personalize your bookmarks and make them your own.

Your instructor will provide the following:

• Miniature printing press
• Paper
• Carving tools
• Ink knife
• Pencils
• Scissors
• Tape
• Design inspiration

Students are asked to bring:

• Work apron if desired, or clothes you do not mind staining.
• Optional: a 2″ x 8″ sketch prepared in advance
• Optional: Ribbons, tassels, or embellishments

Skill Level 
No experience required.

Age Requirement
Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class. Students ages 16 and 17 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
