Beginning Spinning on a Wheel

Where does thread come from? Have you ever wondered how a spinning wheel works, or how your wool socks or sweater was made?

This class will explore the fundamentals of spinning, including:

• wheel parts

• treadling

• fiber uptake

• drafting

• plying

• setting and finishing

This course is ideal for a new spinner who wants to make yarn on a spinning wheel.

Instructor will provide the following: 

All fibers and spinning wheels

Students are asked to bring:

Optional: camera, paper and writing utensil if it helps you document your learning experience.

Since your class runs over the lunch hour, we recommend you bring lunch or click HERE to learn about local eating opportunities.

Skill Level 

No experience required.

Age Requirement

Students ages 10 and older are welcome to attend this class. Ages 10-15 must register with another registered adult. Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission by an email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
