Carve a cooking spoon, from log to spoon! Students will learn to split green logs into billets, or flat pieces of wood, to axe out spoon blanks. You will start by designing and drawing your form (examples and templates will be supplied). Then you will carve the blanks into functional cooking utensils, designed to be used in the kitchen every day.
This class will use black cherry, a wood known for its “carvability” and nice finish straight off of the tools. Blanks will be provided for students who are not comfortable with the axe work.
