Intermediate West African Drumming – SINGLE SESSION – Thursday February 12, 2026

Intermediate West African Drumming is intended for drumming students who wish to challenge themselves with more difficult rhythms and with a quicker pace of instruction.

The series will meet on Thursdays at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix from 7:00 – 8:30pm for the following Thursdays: January 22, January 29, February 12, and February 26.

Your instructor will provide the following:

Drums and other percussion instruments.

Students are asked to bring:

Those who own djembe or kpanlogo drums should bring them.

Skill Level 

Intermediate West African drumming is intended for students who have attended the regular West African drumming classes through the Folk School and are ready for additional challenges. Students who have prior West African drumming experience from other institutions are also welcome to attend the Thursday evening classes, though it is strongly recommended that they first attend a few Friday classes to see if the Intermediate level would be a good fit.

Age Requirement

Students age 12 and older are welcome to attend (ages 12-15 must register with another registered adult). Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission via email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
