Working in the round with two colors at a time you will use the Nordic stranding technique, often called “peasant knitting,” to create your choice of charming fingerless or full mittens. You will learn Latvian braid, securing floats in both background and pattern colors, thumb gussets, and more.

Class size will be small and the atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly. Learning new knitting techniques requires learning new motor skills, so be prepared to be gentle and patient with yourself as you learn, and be ready to ask for help when you need it. Your questions are expected and welcomed!

Skill Level
Students should know how to cast on, be comfortable with knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round using either double pointed needles or magic loop technique, and should be familiar with symmetrical increases like make one right and make one left. It is helpful, but not necessary, to know how to knit in both continental and English styles.

Students Should Bring To Class
One set of US Size 2 [2.75 mm] double pointed needles (or circular needle for magic loop), several stitch markers, tapestry needle, downloaded and printed mitten pattern.
