Learn to make a Glove or Mitten or Mail Basket!
A glove basket! Or how about a mail basket or a mitten basket. A simple yet functional basket that can be hung on the wall near your door to store whatever you need to keep track of. This is a great way to keep your items in the same place and ready when you need them. Never ever search for your mittens again…or maybe your hat…or your keys!
In this class, you will create a basket that can hold many things. It measures 10” high in the front and 13” high in the back.
You will learn basic basket-making techniques. Techniques you will learn are:
- How to create the base of the basket
- How to shape the sides with start – stop weaving
- Taper the basket to be higher in the back than front
- Create a very sturdy rim
- Lash the rim with linen cording
- Finish the basket with a decorative wrapped handle
You will work hard during this class but the outcome will be well worth it. There is truly something magical about taking basic supplies from nature and making a functional work of art. You will love this class!
The instructor will provide all weaving supplies.
