Fireflies, bumblebees, and dragonflies oh my! The world of insects is overflowing with a huge diversity of forms and colors – what more could an artist want for inspiration? In this class, we will take a tour through insect & arthropod anatomy, briefly talk about how the various types of bugs are related to one another, and talk about their role in various habitats (especially lakes, streams, soil, and their role in pollinating).

Instructor Erin Wilaby will provide information on insect behavior so that you can have better luck when observing. They will also share tips they’ve learned while working for the forest service on how to best avoid mosquitoes and ticks. The class will wrap up with a playful challenge: draw the same bug in as many styles as possible!
