Create a Leaf Monoprint Journal or Sketchbook – Saturday, August 9

This Minnesota-style nature book will make a great cabin guest book or unlined journal. The case will be covered with an acrylic monoprint made with leaves found in the neighborhood or brought from home. Strathmore drawing paper for the 40-page, single text block inside will allow pens to flow and is heavy enough to accept mixed media. Simple printing and binding techniques are easy to recreate at home.  You have the option to bring flowers or leaves pressed in the pages of a hardcover book to class or use materials provided.

Your instructor will provide the following materials to use:

Glue sticks, binders board, bone folders, awls, Strathmore Drawing Series #400 (for covers, endsheets and pages), thread, needles, ribbon, masking tape, adhesive book tape, wax paper, acrylic paint and rollers, and Gelli pad printer.

Students are asked to bring:

• Sharp scissors
• X-Acto knife
• Ballpoint pen & Sharpie 
• Dull and Sharp pencils 
• A few leaves and/or flowers pressed in a heavy book
• Bone folder and self-healing cutting mat, if you already have them (some will be available for shared use)  
• As your class is scheduled over a lunch hour, we highly recommend you bring a lunch.

Skill Level
No experience is required.

Age Requirement
Students between the ages of 16 and 18 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission. Email is okay.
