Become An Instructor

Thank you for your interest in teaching at Marine Mills Folk School!

We’re in the midst of some changes in the way we schedule classes and are moving towards seasonal selections through an open call proposal process. This both ensures a more intentional curation of our program arc, as well as keeping things manageable for our small-but-mighty staff.

We are currently taking class proposals for Winter Session (December 2025, January and February 2026).
If you have an idea to submit for a later season, no problem! Just know that we will review it at a later time.

Whether you’re a returning instructor or someone interested in joining us for the first time, please use the fillable form linked below.
This form is both for new people who are interested in teaching at our school and want to learn more before moving forward, and for those ready to propose class ideas (both returning and new!).

Need some guidance?
We accept instructor interest on a rolling basis. When you indicate you are interested and want to talk with us about teaching, we will reach out to schedule a chat.

READY TO SUBMIT YOUR IDEA(S)?
Class proposals for Winter Session are due September 4. Staff will review them in early September and respond with questions or to confirm dates and move forward. We may not be able to accommodate every proposal; thank you for your understanding.

(View the form questions here before you submit)

ABOUT US
Marine Mills Folk School exists to enrich lives and strengthen community by inviting all people to discover the joy of creating together from a folk school tradition.
We are based in Marine on St. Croix, less than an hour from the Twin Cities, MN. We are housed in a former elementary school, which demonstrates our values of sharing resources and being grounded in community. Our classes are opportunities for artist-instructors and interested participants to come together to share knowledge and support each other in hands-on, in person learning with no grades or competition.

Instructor support
Instructors are independent contractors with whom we split class fees 50/50.
We market your class, provide administrative support (class registration, collecting tuition and material fees) and day-of support.
