Mushroom Foraging with Carson

Join mushroom enthusiast Carson Gross for a mushroom walk and talk in the St. Croix River Valley. Class will start with an overview of the basics of mushroom foraging and identification along with a discussion of how to forage ethically and mindfully. The class will then take a mycological walk in the woods near the folk school. No guarantees on the mushrooms you might find, which is part of the beauty of foraging. After the walk, class will regroup to share their harvest and identify some of what you’ve found.

About the Instructor: Carson Gross

Students are asked to bring:

• comfortable clothes for walking in the woods

• sturdy shoes

• a basket/mesh bag for mushroom collection

• bug spray if needed

• water and snacks (optional)

Skill Level
No experience required.

Age Requirement
Students ages 10 and older are welcome to attend this class. Ages 10-15 must register with another registered adult. Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission (by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org).
