Learn the sculptural process of wood relief carving. In this beginning course, instructor Kevin Ewing will introduce relief carving tools and tool safety while guiding you through mark making. You will transform a basswood board into a work of art, first practicing a variety of cutting techniques on the back of the board, then creating your own custom relief carved art work on the front.
Bring a sketch or simple design you’d like to carve to class, or choose from the designs provided. Come and explore this rewarding craft with an experienced teacher and artist!
