Learn how to read a turned krokbragd chart and weave a cotton band using three groups of heddles. If you have taken Beth’s “Introduction to Band Weaving” class or have some experience with band weaving, you will love expanding your knowledge and creating more complex designs with this technique!
In this class, students will learn what makes a Turned Krokbragd band different from a plain weave band, how to follow a Turned Krokbragd pattern, how to manipulate supplemental heddle groups, and what to consider when designing a Turned Krokbragd pattern. Unlike plain weave patterns, which utilize only 2 sheds (up and down), Krokbragd patterns utilize 3 sheds and require additional setup and manipulation of warp threads.
Students will weave as much as they can within the allotted class time. Depending on the length of weaving completed by the end of class, students are assisted in turning their band into a lanyard, key chain, or bookmark. For continued work, class looms may be checked out by individuals willing to return looms and materials to the instructor at a mutually agreed-upon location within 2 weeks of class.
