Please note: This class meets over the course of two days, Saturday-Sunday May 2 and 3, 2026 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm each day.
Learn the basic basket-making techniques and take home a bike basket! Join Kirsten, a long-time instructor known for her energetic and encouraging teaching style. She’ll help you ease into basket weaving with confidence and ease—you may be surprised at how quickly the time flies as you work with your hands and materials.
During class, you’ll learn essential basket-making techniques, including:
-
Laying out a strong basket base
-
Shaping the sides using start-and-stop weaving
-
Adding a durable rim
-
Incorporating decorative reed for added detail, if desired
You’ll work hard, but the results are well worth it. There’s something truly magical about transforming simple, natural materials into a functional and beautiful object. You’ll leave with a handmade basket and a new appreciation for the art of weaving.
