———————————————————————-

It may not be Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but need has no season. We all know someone who could use a gift that provides comfort and dignity—or perhaps we could use it ourselves. One breast form recipient shared, “When I look in the mirror, I recognize myself again.” Many recipients request additional forms, a true testament to their comfort and wearability.

In this class, you’ll learn how to knit soft, comfortable cotton breast forms in a wide range of sizes. These forms are washable, lightweight, breathable, and cost-effective. We’ll also discuss simple ways to customize each one to meet the recipient’s preferences.

The project will be started in class, where all the necessary techniques will be demonstrated. Most students finish their breast form at home; each one typically takes about 1½ to 2 hours to complete, depending on the size and your knitting speed.

The class environment will be relaxed, supportive, and respectful—no invasive questions, no explanations required, just a caring space to knit together. Individual help will be available throughout.

We are excited to host this opportunity to come together and give to the community. The only cost to this class is the minimal cost of materials. Join us in knitting for a great cause!

Your instructor will provide the following:

  • Kit includes a skein of soft cotton yarn and handouts with instructions for knitting techniques.

Students are asked to bring:

  • One set of double pointed needles, size US 4 [3.5 mm] or a long circular needle for magic loop
  • Stitch markers
  • One free pattern which you will download and print out before coming to class (NOTE: About a week before class I will email you a link to the free pattern.)
  • Water and a snack

Skill Level

You should be comfortable knitting in the round, casting on, knitting, and purling. (We can help you learn increases, decreases, and binding-off.) To be in this class, it’s a good idea to have already successfully completed several projects.

Age Requirement

Students ages 18 and older are welcome to attend this class.
