Paint and Carve a Sgraffito Mug- Saturday, October 19, 2024

Join potter Kim Burnham of Imokim Pottery to try out decorating a ceramic mug with carved and decorated details.  Students will have the opportunity to sketch out their own designs or use a provided template. Kim will throw a selection of mugs before class and then share tips and tricks for adding simple images to greenware. The mugs (approximately 10-14oz ) will be glazed with a clear top coat and then returned to MMFS for local pickup a few weeks later.

• You will learn the following: Techniques to transfer design ideas to pottery and best methods for painting and carving into clay. 
• You will make a mug for a cozy fall
• At the end of class Kim will take the mugs to her studio where they will be bisque and then glaze fired with a clear glaze.

Skill Level
No experience needed.

Age Requirement
Students ages 18 and older are welcome to attend.
