People have been cultivating plants for thousands of years. Our ancestors grew plants for survival and later for cultural, medicinal and aesthetic reasons. Even today, plants really do provide us with everything we need to live. How did we get so intimidated by growing plants?
Let’s get back to the basics and get ready to grow something this coming garden season, whether it’s a few small containers, a raised bed, or a small plot in the ground. It’s time to grow! In this class, we’ll explore basic plant biology, the importance of good soil and how to get it, what to grow, where to grow, when to grow, and what plants need to survive and thrive. Hands-on activities will help solidify the information and build confidence. Each participant will leave with a realistic growing plan for the coming season; some vegetable, herb, and/or flower seeds; a few plants; and dirty hands!
