Knitting lace

The appeal and versatility of knitted lace may take you by surprise! Lace is nothing but knitted fabric punctuated with strategically placed holes. It’s intricate but logical. Liz will teach you that logic, step-by-step, as you learn to read a lace chart, knit in the round, and ultimately create a cozy cowl. (The cowl will be completed at home, but you will have a great start and the needed knowledge.)

The class size will be small to ensure you each get all the help you need. The atmosphere will be relaxed and reassuring. Questions and requests to “show me that again” are not only expected but welcomed, because Liz loves teaching knitters! Your job will be to have patience with yourself as your brain grasps new concepts and muscles develop new fine motor skills.

A week before the class, Liz will email you with a link to the $6 pattern you will purchase from the designer online, then download and print out.

Students are asked to bring the following:

  • US Size 13 circular needle either 16” or 24” long
  • printed copy of the pattern
  • 6 stitch markers, one in a contrasting color for beginning of round
  • scissors
  • If your class is scheduled over a lunch hour, we highly recommend you bring a lunch or click here to learn about local eating opportunities in the area.

Age Requirement
Students ages 18 and older are welcome to attend this class.

Skill Level
For advanced beginning knitters who are comfortable with knit and purl stitches, know how to cast on and bind off, and have made several projects.
