Create a Hand-Printed Journal or Sketchbook – Saturday, June 28

Do you love filling journals or sketchbooks? Just imagine filling one of your own making! Using geometric shapes and stamps of your own designs, create one-of-a-kind decorative patterns to be used on the book covers. Strathmore drawing paper for the 40-page, single text block inside will allow pens to flow and is heavy enough to accept mixed media. Simple techniques and easy-to-find materials make this book one that is easily finished in one sitting and something you’ll be able to successfully recreate at home.

Your instructor will provide the following materials:

Use of Glue sticks, binder boards, bone folders, and awls.  Strathmore Drawing Series #400 (for covers, endsheets and pages), thread, needles, ribbon, masking tape, adhesive book tape, wax paper, ink pads, and foam to make stamps.

Students are asked to bring:

• Sharp scissors
• X-Acto knife
• Ballpoint pen & Sharpie 
• Dull and Sharp pencils 
• Bone folder and self-healing cutting mat, if you already have them (some will be available for shared use)  
• As your class is scheduled over a lunch hour, we highly recommend you bring a lunch.

Skill Level
No experience is required.

Age Requirement
Students between the ages of 16 and 18 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission. Email is okay.
