***This event requires NO registration! However, if you have a specific item that needs fixing, please reach out to the team at info@marinemillsfolkschool.org beforehand so we may try to prepare by having the right tools on hand.
Special Mother’s Day focus: With Mother’s Day approaching, what better way to show you care than by repairing something for a mom (or another loved one)?
At this month’s Dare to Repair hands-on repair clinic, fix mom’s broken lamp or toaster, mend her shirt … bring anything that needs repair! Repair coaches with tools will be on hand to guide you as needed. Fabric paints will also be available, if you’d like to decorate an item of clothing (or hide stains).
Note: You may want to check with mom first before painting her clothing!
About Dare to Repair
Molly Sanford and Dana Vannen Anderson are on a quest to rescue your goods from the landfill. On the first Saturday of the month, join a community of repair-driven folks and learn how to restore items rather than throw them away. Drop in and stay for as long as you’d like.
Mend with Molly
Patch your jeans! Darn your socks! Bring whatever you have that needs mending and stitch with us. We will have hand-sewing supplies and a sewing machine set up, along with the expertise to get your mending project going. All skill levels welcome, from I’ve-never-sewn-a-button to seasoned stitchers.
Repair with Dana
Busted toaster? Lamp gone dark? Repair Coach Dana can walk you through troubleshooting and (hopefully) repairing your broken household items.
Note: in this “Fix-it Clinic” model, you’ll be rolling up your sleeves and doing much of the repair work yourself, with guidance, of course. Don’t expect to drop items off to be repaired for you.
Attendees can bring: mending projects, small electronics in need of repair
Cost Details
A $5 donation is encouraged, to help our nonprofit cover building costs. However, all are welcome and no one will be turned away.
