(Waitlist) Build a Wooden Paddle (14+) April 5-7, 2024

Build your own bent shaft canoe paddle. Students will learn about wood selection and grains, use of hand tools and skill saw, paddle design and considerations, and paddle sizing. Each student will leave with a completed bent shaft paddle ready for varnishing.

This is one of our most popular classes, our students love our instructor and his enthusiasm, love what they make in only one weekend, and love the positive support and community that forms between Mayor Kevin and the students who attend. It’s a special weekend, join us!

This class will take place over 3 days for a total of 8 hours:

Friday 4/5 – 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Saturday 4/6 – 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Sunday 4/7 – 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Space is extremely limited, so register early! Only 6 participants per class.

Students are asked to wear clothing that can get permanently stained/damaged.

Age Requirement
Want to share this experience with a younger friend or relative? Students 14 years old and older are welcome to join this class, with each participant working on their own paddle. Students ages 14-18 must be accompanied by an adult. Each student must register separately and pay the class fee.

Skill Level
No experience required.

Location Details
Marine on St. Croix, private location to be emailed to students prior to class.
This class will take place in a workshop with doors open to the outside, N-95 masks for dust protection will be supplied and required at all times.

NOTE:  Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
