This class introduces students to Hmong embroidery needlework called paj ntaub (flower cloth). Students will learn about the history, motifs, or symbols of the Hmong paj ntaub and make a piece of paj ntaub using the cross-stitching embroidery method. Each student will receive a kit with materials and additional tips/resources to help increase the student’s skill.
The needlework project can be framed once it is completed. (Frame is not included in the kit.) Students will begin the project during class and may need to finish on their own.
Your instructor will provide:
- 1 embroidery needle
- 1 piece of Aida fabric cloth (cross-stitching cloth)
- floss
- pattern
Students should bring to class:

Age Requirement
Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class. Ages 16-17 can attend with parent permission via email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
