Nino Nardecchia

My name is Anthony “Nino” Nardecchia. A 1967 graduate of White Bear Lake High School, I attended the United States Air Force Academy graduating in 1971. For the next 20 years, I served in the Air Force in many capacities including being an F-15 jet fighter pilot. After retiring from the Air Force in 1991 as a Lt Colonel, I
spent the next 14 years as a systems analyst and database developer in the insurance and securities industries retiring again (this time for good) in 2005. I returned home to White Bear Lake, MN to pursue my art and writing.

Primarily a wood carver, sculptor, and author (http://www.royalguarddragons.com), I never felt I could draw until 2013 when I took an “Urban Sketching” class offered at the White Bear Center for the Arts.

I started drawing then painting the drawings and sharing them with friends.
In the summer of 2017, I was approached by Patty Hall, co-founder of the non-profit, H20 for Life,
www.h2oforlifeschools.org. She asked me to do a painting of a local attraction to auction at the annual H20 for Life “Water Ball” fund raiser which was held in September 2017. The piece, “Tally’s Dockside”, was well received and many individuals approached me to see if any of my other works were available for sale. Since I donate my art and time to this endeavor, I am able to donate 100% of the net proceeds generated from
card sales to the following organizations that help children and families in need ($11,700 as of 12/20):
  • Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf
  • St Andrews Community Resource Center
  • Second Harvest
  • H20 For Life

Over the past few years I have become very interested in the life cycle of Monarch Butterflies and how all of us can play a part in saving the Monarchs from extinction.  This interest has now become a passion and I am so happy to share it with others.
