In this introduction to the Norwegian craft of Skinnfell, participants will create a wood block-printed sheepskin chair pad which can also be used as a wall hanging. We will discuss the traditional use of Skinnfell and the symbolism of the motifs to impart goodwill to the user. Options for stitched and non-stitched edgings will be discussed. Stitching can be started in class and completed at home.

Ages 15 and up. No previous experience needed.

Instructor will provide: a pre-cut 14” x 14″ sheepskin and four 14″ x 1″ sheepskin strips, leather sewing needle, thread, metal clips, use of wood blocks, paints, marking tape, and class handout.

Students should bring: a pencil, leather thimble, ruler, scissors, eye glasses (if they need them), and any favorite stamps they may want to use.
