Primitive Rug Hooking: Coasters (Intergenerational) February 3, 2024

Students will learn rug hooking with wool fabric strips on a linen backing to create a pair of 4-inch coasters. Students will learn how to pull loops, hook straight and curved lines, and finish edges.

At the end of the day, students will leave with at least one finished coaster, supplies for a second, and a new love for this traditional artform.

Your instructor will provide the following materials:

• Linen backing
• Wool strips for hooking design
• Hoop, hook, and tapestry needle
• Complete instructions for hooking and finishing

Students are asked to bring:

• Sharp scissors
• We highly recommend you bring a lunch as this class does go over the lunch hour. If you need to buy lunch, you can do so at these local businesses.

Skill Level
No experience needed. Hand dexterity needed for gripping hook and pulling loops.

Age Requirement
Students between the ages of 10-15 may register with another registered adult. Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend with written permission from a parent or guardian by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
