The folk-art tradition of adhering sentimental objects to ceramic jugs. Some believe it began as a Victorian craft. Others contend that it originated with the African-American practice of creating then placing the jug on the grave to ease the passing of a loved one. In this class you will make a memory jar full of small things that remind you of a special time or a special person.
Students are asked to bring the following materials:
- Junk drawer bits and pieces. Nothing much larger than a wooden nickel.
- Glass or ceramic jar any shape you like
- Bagged lunch or snacks
No experience needed
Students ages 12 and up are welcome to register.
