This is a day and a half class: Sept 30th and October 1st.
Students will learn 10 to 14 different knife grips and how to use them effectively for wood carving. In the process you will become comfortable with the use of a knife, safely carving both away and towards yourself. Sharpening knives will be covered. This day and one half class will be interspersed with demonstrations of sharpening and the making of certain joints, finials and other decorative techniques using green and dry wood.
Students to bring the following required tools:
- Mora carving knife, no. 106 or 120 (no chip carving, hunting or Flexcut knives)
- Pencils or gel pens
- Sharpening tools (Fred will advise)
Instructor will have tools for use by students, as well as knives for sale.
The knife and axe skills you learn in this class makes you eligible for the following:
-Advanced Spoon Carving
-Knutkorg Basket
-Kuksa Carving
-Wooden Bowl Carving
Age Requirement
Students ages 15 and older are welcome to attend this class.
