Hardanger embroidery is named for the Hardanger region of Norway where this style of embellishing clothing and home goods flourished. Students will create an embroidered bookmark incorporating several traditional stitches and the distinctive cutwork that makes Hardanger embroidery so beautiful.
Stitches will include: kloster blocks, woven bars, wrapped bars, tailored buttonhole, divided branch, buttonhole bar, and picot. Fabrics, needles, threads, and pattern reading will be discussed so students can make informed decisions when taking
