What is Forest Therapy? Forest Therapy, or “Forest Bathing”, is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing & improving mood and cognition. Forest Therapy walks are slow-paced and are leisurely guided through nature by certified Forest Therapy guides.
*Forest Therapy Walks will take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month, starting in April. Students will receive an email with meeting information a few days before class.
Your instructor will provide the following:
- Bug spray, sunscreen, etc.
- First-aid kit
- Materials for tea ceremony
Students are asked to bring the following:
- Please dress for the outdoors and weather: wear close-toed shoes, hat, sunglasses, etc.
- Water bottle, snacks
- Any life-saving medication if needed for a medical condition
Students ages 10 and older are welcome to register for this class with another registered adult.
No experience is required. However, any mobility/walking or allergy issues should be addressed prior to the class.
The walk will take place at William O’Brien State Park, 16821 O Brien Trail N, Marine on St Croix, MN 55047
Note that there is a daily ($7) or annual ($35) MN State Park permit required to participate.
NOTE: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
