Design a Sami-Inspired Cuff Bracelet (In Person) July 15, 2023
Jul 15, 2023 10:00AM—4:00PM
Marine Mills Folk School 550 Pine Street Marine on St Croix, MN 55047
Topics Katherine Buenger
Join instructor Katherine Buenger and learn how to make an elegant bracelet. These bracelets are inspired by the designs of the Sami people, who are the native people from the far northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
Using tin thread (fine pewter 4% silver wire wrapped around a fiber core) and leather, students will learn several braiding styles and design their own unique cuff. Katherine will bring several choices of leather strips and cord in a variety of colors along with several sizes of tin thread to work with. This class involves quite a bit of hand sewing.
Your instructor will provide:
- Written instructions
- Complete kit to make one bracelet
No experience necessary.
Students ages 12 and older are welcome to attend this class. Ages 12-15 need to register with another registered adult. Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission (with an email to firstname.lastname@example.org).
