Whether you are a beginner who has never tried knitting, or an experienced knitter who loves a chunky knit project, you’ll have fun making a cozy knit scarf. You can also seam the ends together to create a single- or double-loop cowl. With giant needles and only a few stitches per row, you will be done before you know it!
Cara will supply you with super soft merino wool yarn that is about 1/2-inch thick. Choose from a variety of colors: undyed cream, ash gray, dark ocean blue, mink (gray-pink), sunset yellow, and unicorn (a blend of pink, purple, yellow, and blue). Please email your color choice to cara.corey@marinemillsfolkschool.org prior to the class.
The finished scarf is approximately 6 inches wide and 44 inches long or 5 inches wide and 50+ inches long, depending on the number of stitches you cast on. The garter stitch pattern does stretch as well. If you’re thinking of making holiday gifts, these scarves would be the perfect project.
Your instructor will provide the following materials:
- 1 ball (approx. 40 yards) of chunky wool roving yarn
- Set of size 50/25 mm plastic knitting needles for you to keep
- Pattern with photo tutorial
Students are asked to bring:
- Bag lunch or snacks (optional)
