A basic Tunisian crochet stitch is like a cross between crochet and weaving that produces a waffle-like texture. In this class, we will explore other versions of this stitch, including an airy double crochet stitch, full stitch, smock stitch, and a striping technique. You can make your stitched samples into individual squares or one long sampler. The squares can be sewn together to make a scarf, table runner, or even an afghan (the double crochet squares would be perfect for this!) Or, you could use them as coasters or small dishcloths.
This class will focus on experimentation with stitches in a supportive environment. If you have seen a stitch you want to try, this is the place to try it!
Your instructor will provide the following materials:
- Cotton yarns with a variety of colors for you to choose from
- Tunisian crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Printed instructions for each stitich
Students are asked to bring:
- favorite yarns or hooks
- bag lunch and/or snacks if needed
Some Tunisian crochet experience will be required to work on the more advanced stitches. However, beginners are welcome to join and make the basic Tunisian stitch or any additional stitches they want to try.
Students ages 16 and older and welcome to attend this class (ages 16-17 with parental permission via email to email@example.com).
