Students will learn rug hooking with wool fabric strips on a linen backing to create a beautiful landscape design.
Topics covered will include: hooking straight and curved lines; using hard and soft edges; and understanding atmospheric perspective. At the end of the day, students will leave with a hooked 4-by-6-inch landscape ready to be framed, a new love for this traditional artform, and the skills to continue rug hooking at home.
Your instructor will provide the following materials:
- Linen backing with hand drawn design
- Wool strips for hooking design
- Hoop, hook, and tapestry needle
- Complete instructions for hooking and finishing
Students are asked to bring:
- We highly recommend you bring a lunch as this class does go over the lunch hour.
No experience needed. Hand dexterity needed for gripping hook and pulling loops.
Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class with written permission from a parent or guardian. Permission can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
