If you have not been able to take this class yet – now is your chance! Limited space available! Build your own bent shaft canoe paddle. Students will learn about wood selection and grains, use of hand tools and skill saw, paddle design and considerations, and paddle sizing. Each student will leave with a completed bent shaft paddle ready for varnishing.
This class will take place over 3 days for a total of 9 hours:
Saturday 10/9 – 11 AM – 2PM
Sunday 10/10 – 11 AM – 2PM
Want to share this experience with a younger friend or relative? Students 14 years old and older are welcome to join this class, with each participant working on their own paddle. Students aged 14-18 must be accompanied by an adult. Each student must register separately and pay the class fee. Also, please note our class fee paid at registration now includes both the material fee of $25 and the instructor fee.
Students to wear clothing that can get permanently stained/damaged.
Can’t make this class? This class will also be taught on the following days:
November 5 – 7, Friday – Sunday
Location: Marine on St. Croix, private location to be emailed to students prior to class. This class will take place in a workshop with doors open to the outside, N-95 masks for dust protection will be supplied and required at all times.
Please note: We’ve changed how each student pays for the material used during each in-person class. Each registration fee now combines the material fee and the instructor fee. We’ve made this change based on feedback from instructors and participants: instructors can focus more on teaching their class, and students don’t need to remember to bring the material fee to pay directly to the instructor.
General Age Policy:
All classes are for adults (18+) unless otherwise noted.
Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers' need to plan for a class with students' busy schedules -- not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
