Come explore the ancient tradition of chain making! You’ll use “Viking Knitting,” a centuries-old looping technique, to create a beautiful silver bracelet with a variety of unusual clasps. Historically, this unique method of weaving resembles “nalbinding” knitting and was used to fabricate everything from sweaters to netting for catching fish! You’ll have the opportunity to complete a bracelet in a single day – no previous experience required – and all tools and materials will be provided. Add a charm for an additional charge or bring one of your own!
Liz has added another class day featuring a different technique for bracelet making, due to student interest. See also our March 9 class: ‘Saami-Inspired’ Scandinavian Bracelet.
Class will be held at our winter location: Gammelgarden Museum, 20880 Olinda Trail, Scandia, MN 55073
NOTE: Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
