This is an introductory spoon carving class. We will start with an overview of traditional knife grips and carving techniques. After applying those skills on practice sticks, students will begin carving a medium-sized serving or cooking spoon. With Michele and Erik providing support and expert guidance, the goal of the class is for each student to complete hand carving a spoon!
Class is appropriate for adults and ‘young adults’ aged 15 or above. Each ‘young adult’ must be accompanied by an adult and each participant must be registered and pay for class.
Students to bring:
- (optional) Own carving tools, although instructors will provide knives for use during class
- (optional) Bag lunch or heavy snacks as the class will extend into the lunch hour
NOTE: Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
