Nothing grabs a reader more than a good read, a story a reader just can’t put down! This writing workshop will center on storytelling across all genres (fiction, nonfiction, poetry). We’ll read some short pieces from master storytellers and discuss how these writers captivate and hold an audience. We’ll work on a number of writing exercises, focusing on the essentials of good storytelling – developing plot, character, dialogue, point of view, image and metaphor. And we’ll critique each other’s writing along the way. Plan to learn and have fun!
Join local author and poet Marge Barrett as she shares her knowledge of writing and creating, while welcoming participants to share their interest in writing. Marge invites you to come prepared to work on your writing craft, this time with a focus on storytelling.
Be sure to check out her other class on June 27, “I Need to Write!”
