Not sure what to do when someone asks you to tie up a boat? Do you let the store employee tie down the plywood or the Christmas tree on top of your car, because you’re worried about your knot tying skills? Have a young friend who’d love to learn knots with you?   Phil Peterson has spent his lifetime on big adventures and he’s figured out what are the ‘Six Knots for Everyday Life’ that will get you through every situation. Adults and kids will love this class, especially when they take it together!   Spend a fun day learning how to tie the knots you’ll use for the rest of your life!  There will be a break for lunch in the middle, but otherwise the class will include demonstration time, plenty of time for hands-on learning and a review of the How, Why and When to use a particular knot. You’ll leave ready to take on the north woods, or to sign on to sail the oceans,  or to simply to complete those home projects that could use some expert knot tying.   The instructor will provide rope, tying devices and a handout. There is no material cost but at the end of the class participants can pay the instructor $10 and bring the supplies home for additional practice. Please bring water/snacks and lunch, as there are no food facilities at the school.

Please note: We’ve changed how each student pays for the material used during each in-person class.  Each registration fee now combines the material fee and the instructor fee.  For this class, the material fee covers a knife provided by the instructor (which you will then take home) plus the wood used in the class. We now collect the material fee directly based on feedback from instructors and participants: instructors can focus more on teaching their class, and students don’t need to remember to bring the material fee to pay directly to the instructor.

NOTE: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
