In this class, we will learn the basic skills of leather working while sewing a classic 100% leather tote bag. Learn about cutting leather, preparing it for stitching, saddle-stitching and riveting handles. Leave with a beautiful Market Tote of your very own and the skills to do countless leather working projects for a lifetime!
Tote measures approximately 16”x14” and is made out of brown oil-tanned cow hide. All materials will be prepared by the instructor before class, but each step of the preparations will be covered as a group.
Candace is a talented leather artist and instructor, and in 2015 she was selected as one of eight nationally emerging artists to participate in the American Craft Exposition in Chicago. Our ‘before’ students loved her class, and you will too! We’re excited to welcome her back to Marine Mills Folk School, come join us!
Note: the registration fee includes $120 for materials plus the instructor fee.
Lunch will be on your own. Please bring water/snacks and lunch as this class is scheduled through the lunch hour.
General Age Policy:
All classes are for adults (18+) unless otherwise noted.
Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers' need to plan for a class with students' busy schedules -- not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
