This is a 5 session class, led by Chris Coleman.  See below for more details.

Here’s an unusual offer that fits with Marine Mills Folk School work to create opportunities for connections during the pandemic…..Chris Coleman, local yoga teacher and long time travel guide in France, is offering Marine Mills Folk School students a way to support our folk school plus connect with others interested in travel and staying fit.  With each registration for this fun online series, Chris will donate to Marine Mills Folk School – thank you Chris!  You’re also welcome to register for the same price using Chris’s web site, but MMFS won’t receive a donation.

We can’t easily travel right now but we can dream, learn and get our bodies in shape for that longed-for trip next year!  Here’s some fun motivation to get out and move, plus receive enjoyable doses of culture and history — join us on our virtual pilgrimage in France from the Loire Valley to Mont St. Michel!

Your guides: Chris Coleman, a local Minnesotan who has guided with Rick Steves’ Europe tours in France for over 20 years, together with her long time tour-guide collaborator, Patrick Vidal, who will be joining each Saturday session from the pilgrimage stop in France!

How it works: We’ll be walking the equivalent length of ‘Chemin Miquelot’ – a historical path to Mont St. Michel, 175 miles or about 40 miles each week.  Note: everyone has different fitness levels and time available, you can adjust your distance goal even if it is half the miles, what is important is for you to meet your own personal challenge.  Everyone will get support and motivation during our 5 online Saturday sessions, plus be entertained and learn about the countryside and history, through Chris’s and Patrick’s lively commentary.  Learn about local culture, history, and food and wine from two highly rated and knowledgeable guides, plus complete that first New Year’s resolution!

After registering for the class you’ll receive a welcome email from our coaching app that will instruct you to download the app “My Coach”. You will receive a daily email during January with lessons and information. The app will direct you to written and video content to help guide you on our virtual pilgrimage path.

Live Stream Events every Saturday (January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) on location:  Patrick will broadcast from France and discuss details about where we are on the path. Normally 9am-10am cst on Saturdays, these live events will be recorded and will be accessible for viewing at your leisure. All content will be available to you through our My Coach app, private Facebook group and YouTube group.

Note: No Marine Mills Folk School coupons can be used for this class.

Student Supply List:

  • A good pair of walking shoes/hiking boots
  • A Fitbit or alternate method of keeping track of distance (we’ll provide you a conversion table for all other daily activities to help you add up the mileage)
  • A sense of curiosity & adventure – this is our maiden voyage and we’re excited to experience it with you!

General Age Policy:
All classes are for adults (18+) unless otherwise noted.

Class Minimums:
Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers' need to plan for a class with students' busy schedules -- not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!

Read all of our school policies.
