Many cultures have used woven tapestry to record their histories, from China to Europe to American indigenous cultures. Begin to create your own history, or create something more abstract, the choice is yours! In this beginning class, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to create a weaving on a wooden frame loom. Students will learn all aspects of beginning weaving, including how to warp a loom, what to consider when choosing the correct yarns for a project and 3 weaving techniques (rya knot, saumak and tabby). Everyone will leave with a finished woven wall hanging (9 inch X 18 inch) and plenty of resources to take your weaving craft to the next level.
Students 12+ are welcome. If under 18, the student must be accompanied by an adult. Both adult and youth must register separately.
