In this amazing class, you will learn the skills of learning cables, learning to knit on double-pointed needles (it’s not as hard as you think it is!) and learning to read patterns and charts.
Quick Knit Mitts – Simple, soft, and warm mitts to jazz up your winter (and leave your fingers free for texting…or knitting!) Students will complete one mitt in class with the confidence to knit the other mitt at home.
Necessary skills for the class: Knit, Purl, Cast On, Bind Off. Needing a refresher is okay, but this class is not intended for complete beginners.
Students to bring:
- 70-80 yards of wool, acrylic, or blend Bulky weight yarn that knits up at approximately 3 sts/in – (recommended: a solid, heathered, or subtle colorway for this project. Stripes, variegated colorways, and textured yarn will take away from the appearance of the cables.)
- *Avoid 100% cotton or 100% alpaca, as these yarns can be drapey and lose their shape
- 4-5 Double Pointed Needles to achieve gauge (approx. 10, 10.5, or 11 depending on your personal gauge)
- Cable needle (or use one of the double-pointed needles if desired)
