A perfect introduction to needle felting for beginners, this class is designed to introduce students to needle felting with a simple, seasonal project achievable in two hours’ time.
Felting is older than spinning or weaving and found in many world cultures. Felting wool means to agitate the fibers so that they bond together into a non-woven fabric or a three-dimensional form. Felting is often accomplished using water, soap and a hand rubbing process (wet felting). Needle felting (dry felting) involves the use of a sharp, barbed needle and stabbing the wool to connect fibers to build density and form.
Participants will needle felt wool acorn shapes in a variety of sizes and colors, glue into a selection of single and double acorn caps to complete a set of eight decorative acorns and one oak acorn branch. Perfect to use as a table decoration or to incorporate into a holiday wreath. Or why not bring as a present for Grandma when visiting for Thanksgiving? No experience necessary.
This class is appropriate for adults as well as students aged 12-18. Anyone aged 12-17+ years old must register separately and must be accompanied by a registered adult for the entire class. Both the student and adult must purchase the material fee for their own work, as well.
