Intimidated by knitting? Tried it multiple times but got frustrated and dropped it? Join long-time instructor Liz Towers who will gently guide you and support you as you become an honest-to-goodness knitter! You can do it! Learn the basics as you knit a cozy headband just in time for winter. Once you make one, Liz promises you’ll be knitting more as Christmas gifts! Choose from 3 project options and please specify your choice when signing up. Students will receive all three headband patterns in class. Students are asked to bring their supplies to the class.
Option 1: Simple Buttoned Headband – for complete beginners
Students will learn to cast on, knit, purl, make simple buttonholes, and bind off. This is a terrific introduction to knitting and some students are able to leave this 3 hour class with a completed project.
Option 2: Cabled Headband – for beginners who want to learn to cable
Students who have a foggy memory of buried knitting skills, or know they catch on quickly, may wish to add an additional skill as they learn to knit – cabling. Students will learn to cast on, knit, purl, cable, and bind off. Some students may leave the class with their project completed.
Option 3: Twist Headband – for those who know basic knitting and purling, but need to refresh their skills
This headband is a bit more difficult and takes longer than the other two projects offered. Students will refresh their skill of casting on, binding off, knitting, purling, and making a tidy edge as they knit a trendy, twisted, rib-stitch headband.
Students are asked to bring the materials listed for the headband option they choose, please see the Supply List
Note: be sure to note which headband option you have chosen in the ‘comment’ section during registration.
