Learn to basket weave while making this very handy two handled tote. Here’s a fun class to learn all the basic basket-making techniques using reed.  In this class, you will make your very own handy tote. This includes how to lay out the base of the basket, shape the sides and create a very sturdy rim. You will learn how to weave a basket with two handles and a completed, filled bottom. This basket is large.  The base measures 16″ by 7″ and the sides will be 10″ high. Kirsten is a long-time instructor, she’ll help you ease into basket weaving with no stress, and you’ll be amazed at how fun the class is and how quickly it proceeds. Kirsten will discuss how to finish your basket, either leaving it natural or staining it.  There is truly something magical about taking basic supplies from nature and making a functional work of art.  You will love this class! The instructor will provide the weaving supplies for each student to make their basket (included in class fee). She will also have actual basket weaving clippers and basket weaving tools available to buy at the class if desired (please bring your checkbook). Materials to bring along with you to class:
  • Bucket (ice cream bucket size – 5 Qt or larger)
  • Wooden clothespins (at least 15)
  • Strong scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Small flat head screwdriver
