Said to have originated in Egypt in the 2nd century, the Coptic stitch has been used in bookbinding for almost 2,000 years.  Now is your chance to keep the tradition alive.  During this class you will learn about some of the tools and techniques used in non-adhesive bookbinding.  You will explore the Coptic stitch technique while binding a pocket-journal of your own with leather, paper and linen thread.

Students should bring:

  • a sharp pencil
  • A button or toggle you like for a clasp on journal

Class will be held at our winter location: Gammelgarden Museum, 20880 Olinda Trail, Scandia, MN 55073

NOTE: Be aware we may cancel 5 days before class date if a minimum number of registrations not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
