Learn how to make a dreamy super thick and cozy knit blanket out of merino wool roving, plus tips and techniques for caring for these blankets. No knitting experience required!
Knit and crochet designer Cara Corey will show you how to use a “table knitting” technique, forming the stitches with your hands rather than using knitting needles. You will finish with a throw blanket, approximately 30×50 inches.
You have the option of ordering chunky yarn from Cara. It is 4 pounds of high quality merino wool roving in your choice of 5 colors (normally retails for over $150). If ordering from Cara, please make your color choice at least 2 weeks in advance of class. After that, only un-dyed cream will be available.
Or, you can bring your own yarn — you will need approximately 80 yards of jumbo/size 7 yarn or roving. If you bring your own yarn, we will refund you the materials cost of $90.
If ordering from Cara, please make your color choice at least 2 weeks in advance of class. After that, only undyed cream will be available. To order from Cara, please email your color choice to info@marinemillsfolkschool no later than November 20.
Please bring water/snacks, as there are no food facilities at the school.
Please note: We’ve changed how each student pays for the material used during each in-person class. Each registration fee now combines the material fee and the instructor fee. We’ve made this change based on feedback from instructors and participants: instructors can focus more on teaching their class, and students don’t need to remember to bring the material fee to pay directly to the instructor.
NOTE: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
